1. Why do companies turn to data centers and why is it more profitable to work with a data center than to build your own server room?

Today, it is difficult to imagine any "successful" company that does not use IT in its work at all. At a minimum, the need to place the company's website on the Internet provides a "reason" to contact the data center. If the company has "iron" that ensures the company's efficiency, it should be placed in appropriate conditions. The client can build his own server room to accommodate his own hardware, but will it be profitable from an economic point of view? Hardly. This may be justified in the case of very large scales. In other cases, it is more appropriate for the client to contact the data center, where the entire infrastructure is already ready.

2. How did the idea of ​​launching your own DC come about?

As an Internet provider, we set a goal to build a reliable DC to support the performance of our network.Having made sure that everything worked out for us, we decided to put the DC into commercial operation. The data center is located in Kyiv. The services of renting telecommunication cabinets (racks), server placement (colocation), cloud platforms and services based on them are already successfully working for the benefit of customers.

The area of ​​the Data Center is 80 m2 and includes 3 hermozones for 35 cabinets for placing telecommunications equipment with access to the Internet and the possibility of organizing data transmission channels with the bandwidth required by the client.

3. How were the issues of increased load on the transport network (increased traffic) resolved and how did it affect other customers?

Indeed, six months after the launch of our own data center, our share in the generation of UAix traffic reached 10%. But thanks to the presence of direct communication channels to all the main points of traffic exchange, parity channels and the ability to quickly scale the network, we did not experience any difficulties in this, as, in fact, did all our clients. And a year later, we increased the total bandwidth of our communication channels by 1.5 times (by 50%).

4. Does this scheme provide additional benefits for customers who place their equipment in the Kosmonov Data Center?

Of course, when contacting the server located in our data center from the Ukrainian segment, the Internet client receives the shortest route and minimum delay. At the same time, the response speed for the foreign segment of the Internet will also be high, because our presence is not limited to Ukrainian traffic exchange points.

5. What are the plans for the development of this direction?

We try to keep pace with the needs of our customers.Therefore, the Kosmonova cloud has already been launched on the basis of our DC, and the cloud platform in Frankfurt has also been launched. Also, a number of complex solutions have been developed on the basis of these platforms, which allow us to solve most of the problems that arise for our customers. And, of course, we have a lot of new interesting projects ahead of us, some of which are already in the final stages of development.

6. What were the requirements for the location of the data center at the initial stage?

Initially, when developing the project of our own data center, we were guided by TIERE3 indicators. We took into account all TIERE3 requirements when choosing the location of the data center, but, of course, for the convenience of our customers, we decided to place the data center in the business center of Kyiv. BC was chosen based on these requirements

7. How are data centers different?

Of course, no two data centers are the same. Each project is unique. But the main difference is probably the level of uptime that the data center can provide. There are, of course, many nuances - in terms of security, convenience of location and cost - but servers are placed in a data center for their maximum uninterrupted operation. It is by this indicator that they should be distinguished

8. Who are your customers?

Since the needs of different categories of clients are different, we tried to take them into account as much as possible at the stage of implementation of the DC project. Among our clients are private individuals who have their own IT projects, as well as large hosters, banks, etc. That is, we managed to provide those advantages necessary for private clients, such as a flexible payment system and low cost of services, and at the same time satisfy the needs of large clients, such as reliability of services, individual approach, etc.

9. How do rate your price level?

When launching the Kosmonova data center, we did not aim to make the service as cheap as possible. Our priority was the level of uptime we could provide. But thanks to successful and balanced solutions, we manage to keep the cost no higher than the market average.

10. Do you take responsibility for the level of services?

Of course. And this responsibility has a material expression. But we understand for ourselves that the main expression of our responsibility is the presence of customers. In other words, if we do everything right, because we have, we have loyal, "long-term" customers who bring us new customers from among friends, colleagues and acquaintances.

11. Is there a minimum and maximum limit for ordering services? (what is the minimum order volume of services)

We work both with unitary accommodation, renting cabinets, and renting individual modules

12. In what cases should the option of renting a rack be considered? (in which cases clients resort to renting an entire cabinet)

Apart from the obvious cases with a lot of equipment, some companies do not allow equipment to be placed in public cabinets due to internal security requirements. After all, in the case of renting a cabinet, the client has the opportunity to clearly limit access to this cabinet, up to the installation of unique locks on the doors, alarms for opening the doors, and installation of individual video surveillance.
