1. Why do companies use data-centers and why is it better to work with DPS than to build own server?
Today it is impossible to imagine any "successful" company that doesn't use IT in its operations at all. At the very least, launching company's website online is a reason to resort to DPC services. If company uses its own hardware to ensure company’s operations, it must be stored under appropriate conditions. To store its own hardware a company may build its own server room, but is this option cost-effective? Probably not. It makes sense when large scale amount of equipment is needed. In other cases, it is better to use DPC services with all the required infrastructure already operational.
 
2. How did you decide to launch your own DPC?
Top-management of the Cosmonova company, that is an internet provider, set the objective to create a trustworthy DPC to safeguard the company's network operations. The objective reached, the company launched commercial operation of its DPC. Cosmonova DCP is located at 2/1 Hrynchenko str, Business-Park "Protasov".

The DPC of 80 m2 includes 3 pressurized zones for 35 cabinets to store telecommunication equipment with access to the internet and possibility of organizing data channels with bandwidth required by companies.
 
3. How did you tackle increased load in the network (increased traffic) and how did it affect other companies?
Indeed, just half a year after Cosmonova DPC was launched our share in generating UA-IX traffic reached 10%. But thanks to direct channels of communication to all major points of traffic exchange, parity channels and ability to quickly scale the network we didn't experience any difficulties, and neither did our clients. And after a year, we have increased the total capacity of our communication channels 1.5 times (by 50%).
 
4. Does such a scheme additional benefits for customers entrusting their equipment to Cosmonova DPC?
Of course, referring to servers located in our data-center from the Ukrainian segment of the internet user receives the shortest route and the minimum delay. While the rate of response for foreign segment of the internet will also be high as our presence is not limited to Ukrainian traffic exchange points.
 
5. How do you plan to develop in this sphere?
We keep on growing to meet our clients' requirements. At the moment we have already launched cloud Cosmonova on the basis of our data-center and a cloud platform in Frankfurt. In addition, on the base of these platforms we have developed a range of complex solution allowing us to complete most tasks of our clients. And of course, we are looking forward to new interesting projects, some of which are at the final stages of development.
 
6. What requirements did you have at the planning stage concerning location of DPC?
In the beginning, developing the project of our own DPC we had TIERE3 indicators for benchmark. And we took all TIERE3 requirements into account when choosing DPC location. For our clients' convenience we chose the location for DPC in the business center of Kyiv. BP “Protasov” was chosen based on these criteria.
 
7. How do DPCs differ from one another?
Of course, there are no two identical DPCs. Every project is unique. But the main difference is, perhaps, the uptime level that DPC can guarantee. Of course, there are many nuances — security level, location and pricing. But again, servers are placed in DPC to ensure their maximum uninterrupted functioning. Thus, that is the indicator that makes the difference.
 
8. Who are your clients?
As different kinds of clients have different requirements, we tried to take them into account as best as we could at the stage of implementing the project of DPC. Among our clients there are individuals with their own IT-projects as well as large hosters, like banks, for example. So, we succeeded in providing advantages that private clients can benefit from — such as flexible payment system and affordable pricing, and at the same time meet requirements of large clients — such as reliability of the services, individual approach and dependability.
 
9. How do you rate your prices?
Launching DPC Cosmonova we didn't set the goal of making the service as cheap as possible. Our priority was the level of uptime that we had be able to ensure. But thanks to excellent balanced decisions we are capable to keep the price at the level not higher than the average market price.
 
10. Do you take responsibility for the level of services you provide?
Certainly. And this responsibility has material expression. But from our perspective we understand that the major indicator of our responsibility is having clients. In other words, if we do everything right, as it should be done, then we have loyal clients that stay with us for a long time and recommend the company to their friends and colleagues.
 
11. Is there a minimum limit on your services? What is the minimum volume of services that you provide?
We offer per-unit placement, whole cabinet rent and rent of individual modules.
 
12. When is it necessary to rent the whole cabinet? In what cases do clients rent the whole cabinet?
Apart from obvious case involving a lot of equipment, some companies have security protocols forbidding placing equipment in cabinets with joint access. So, when the whole cabinet is rented, client can strictly limit access to the said cabinet, or even install unique locks, alarm system triggered by door opening and individual video monitoring.
