Business clouds are constantly motivating. What else should be revealed?

Cloud technologies and services change business and this is reality. Clouds reduce costs, they make it possible to deploy IT infrastructure or individual solutions within the shortest possible time by means of lease of necessary resources and without long-term overpayment.

In the modern world the most precious thing for a company is time it needs to launch its business products in the market and it is impossible to imagine this process without IT component. It can take months to build classical infrastructure. In particular, in case of special equipment order and delivery timeframe can reach half a year or more.

We’re speaking about Cloud as an opportunity that permits to shorten time for creating company’s IT infrastructure – up to very few days. In this case, it will be appropriate to say: “it’s better to let business owner take care of its business rather than “leap over the IT infrastructure potholes” without proper preparation.”

What are daily business targets the Clouds are most effective for?

It is mainly work related to the information array storage and processing, CRM (Client Relationship Management) systems, accounting systems, email systems, IP Telephony, implementation of specific software for project management, etc. Among the advantages, there are access and work possibilities for the specialists from the remote internet-connected sites. In general, this refers to the routine solutions that we use in the business activities.

Let’s briefly remind of three possible types of Clouds:

public Clouds mean a cloud infrastructure used by a number of companies/users at the same time. Public cloud is physically located at the provider’s premises, owned and managed by a provider. Public cloud mean the rules accepted for all data center clients. If a public cloud does not comply with corporate security policies, there is always one more option of private or hybrid cloud;

private Clouds mean a cloud infrastructure prepared to be used by one company. Such cloud can be owned, managed and maintained both by a company itself and by a provider;

hybrid Clouds mean a combination of two or more clouds (private or public).

Pricing factors and cloud benefits on a short-term horizon – how profitable is it for the people counting money?

However to give a fuller picture, let’s start from the difficulties and expensiveness… If a customer expects to spend 5 years or more in prospect, it is most likely that for the most ambitious projects buying server room infrastructure and recognizing it in the company’s books, personnel costs, maintenance of equipment can be justified. Most probably, it is a case of the large companies, as for the small and medium businesses, five-year payback prospect is pointedly unreasonable. There is no need to keep secret that nowadays even the large companies regard project payback period as two-three years at the most, but in no way as a five-year plan, not to mention timeframe for moving company’s products to the target market. Currently server room construction cost is evidently reasonable if a company operates in the market requiring unprecedentedly high security level and local provider cannot ensure such security level.

In the event a business owner has vacant physical servers, funds for their placement in the data center and technical personnel, this variant is an alternative to the clouds, isn’t it?

Clouds are expedient and much has been said about that: data security, uninterrupted operation of business processes and quick start for reasonable money.
